Why French Flour?

After a barrage of chronic illnesses, our family was told by doctors to eat gluten-free to combat the uncomfortable inflammation from conventionally-produced American wheat. Dutifully, we did, but we never quite gave up our preference for crusty pie crust, crumbly chocolate chip cookies, artisanal bread, and the ease of cooking and baking with wheat flour.

Then we began to hear about gluten-sensitive friends who could eat whatever they wanted in France–they had no symptoms after eating bread and pastries made with wheat grown under the stricter European standards.

“Even the croissants?” we wondered.

Yes, even the croissants.

That was when we began researching. We eventually found a bakery that imported French Flour and used it to bake sourdough sandwich bread.

Biting into that delicious bread was only the beginning. With a few friends, we arranged a bulk order of French Flour.

Over time, more and more families joined us. Before we knew it, we were negotiating with shippers to buy the last pallet of French Flour available during the start of the war in Ukraine (true story!), expanding to offer Italian Pizza and Pasta Flour, and increasing the frequency of our Flour Pop-Up Sales.

Nowadays, we couldn’t be more grateful. We hear story after story of people whose lives were changed after discovering French Flour.

But we’re not done. Recently, we’ve had more and more requests to offer the flour in smaller quantities and requests to offer our French Flour at retail locations. We are constantly planning how we can make this life-changing, yet incredibly simple ingredient, available to everyone who needs it.
